Gordon Street

This project is the second house we have completed for our gorgeous client and friend. We visited this charming cottage in Hawthorne with our client before purchasing the property so we could understand what we could change and create early in the process. The 1930s cottage had undergone recent renovations, but the exterior and pool area were not reflecting how beautiful the house was. Through the Gordon Street Landscaping project, we aimed to enhance these outdoor spaces to match the home’s interior charm.

Charming patio entrance on Gordon Street, Brisbane.

The design scope was to reimagine all the exterior spaces as part of the Gordon Street Landscaping project. We started by adding an arbor to the rear of the pool area with festoon lighting and removed much of the unkempt gardens to create a blank canvas. We also added more concrete and travertine to the pool area and retiled the patio in the same French lay travertine as the pool area.

Key Aspects

1. Arbor Addition: Adding an arbor to the rear of the pool area with festoon lighting to create ambiance.

2. Garden Clearing: Removing unkempt gardens to create a blank canvas for new designs.

3. Pool Area Enhancement: Adding more concrete and travertine to the pool area and retiling the patio in French lay travertine.

4. Recycled Brick Edging: Incorporating recycled brick edging and raised planting beds along with a garden seat.

5. New Planting and Lighting: Adding new planting, lighting, lawn, and irrigation with a color palette of silvers, green, white, pink, and purple.

6. Front Terrace Improvements: Adding a water feature, topiary, brick edging, lighting, and feature trees to the front terrace.

7. Driveway and Pathway Upgrades: Tidying up the driveway entrance and pathways with travertine.

8. House Lighting and Pots: Adding new lighting to the house along with feature pots set on brick plinths.

9. Upper Terrace: Laying Italian gravel in the upper terrace along with irrigation.
